Music will set the mood for parties, so choosing the right music is as important as choosing the right food. A luau needs the sounds of the ukulele, while a Mardi Gras should have zydeco. And if the party is multi-generational, then you really need to choose music that every age will enjoy.
Classic rock rules across the generations. Music by the Beatles transcends generations, starting with my own and going down to my youngest son's. However, Neil Diamond can go one step above even The Beatles; Neil Diamond's music appeals to my parents generation all the way down through kids today. Is there anyone who doesn't love the very humble singer/songwriter?
In 1972, Diamond released the original Hot August Nights, and now comes the (sort of) sequel of the same name. It's perfect for your next girls night in! The DVD release of "Hot August Night/NYC: Live From Madison Square Garden" is being sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, and was recorded at New York's Madison Square Garden during Diamond's four-night run there last year. The DVD features the entire 26-song performance as well as a moving documentary, "Welcome Home Neil," where Diamond revisits his childhood home in Brooklyn.
