Kathryn Joosten has won the hearts of millions of viewers with her portrayal of the character of the feisty neighbor in one of television’s most popular shows. Life seems to have posed an ultimate challenge for this spirited fighter yet again. A recent update on the two time Emmy award winning actress (for her “Desperate Housewives†role) has revealed that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer. After receiving the news, she says that, “I was crying for nearly five days straight.â€
In an exclusive to the People, Joosten talks about the diagnosis which she is said to have received just around last week. She stated, “I’ve got a little hang-up here, but we’re going to handle it and move forward. I’m doing great.â€
Just as she had faced all the challenges life threw her way, Joosten intends to repeat the maneuver yet again. She plans to fight the deadly disease with all her might and will power, not giving up meekly in a surrender. The 69 year old actress had had a previous encounter with lung cancer, way back in 2001.
It was on Monday morning that she delivered the news to her producers, to let them know that the shooting schedule could be interrupted at times because of her involvement with the treatment procedures. She says, “They’re totally supportive. I said, ‘If you want to put it in the story line, do it! Tell anybody you want, because the public’s going to know.â€
