Kacey Montoya: CBS 2 Morning Anchor
Kacey Montoya was born in Orange County, but moved to Dallas, TX when she was eight years old where she spent the next ten years. Thats where she acquired her love of a steak! But, she just couldn't stay away from California....so she headed back to SoCal for college.
She attended Cal State University Northridge where she graduated with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Sociology. Kacey wasn't a fan of the college nightlife...instead she hit the books. She earned a Society of Professional Journalist Mark of Excellence Awards 1st place for TV In-depth reporting for her talk show on Political Free Speech. And nabbed 2nd place from L.A. Press Club for her Radio Newscast.
Casey Montoya interned at CNN in Los Angeles in the Entertainment News Division where she spent most of her time behind the scenes on the red carpet at movie premieres and award show learning the ropes. She got her big break in a place where she never thought she would ever visit, much less call home...Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!
Kacey Montoya spent a year in Oak Hill, WV at the ABC affiliate as the morning and noon anchor and the health reporter. She braved the mountain terrain and snow for a year...driving to work some mornings in three feet of snow!
She is glad to be back in sunny Southern California as part of the CBS2 team! She spends her spare time hanging out with her three favorites...her family, her teacup chihuahua Bella, and Tivo! (When you go to bed at 6:30pm you kinda miss all the good shows!) An aminal lover, Kacey also volunteers for Save-a-Pet in her time away from the news desk. She say her favorite things about the desert are the weather and the shopping, and the great wine!
