"What the hell is Paris Hilton doing here?" was a familiar refrain this weekend at Art Basel Miami Beach, a gathering of the top players in the global art market.
Another unlikely attendee: Lucy Liu, whose painting had her feted as an "emerging artist" at a brunch thrown by sponsor Montblanc.
Among the tongue-in-cheek art was one by an artist who decided to include a line of cocaine in his installation. Apparently he had been partaking the night before and thought it was a suitable nod to one of Miami's main industries.
Other celebs spotted around the booths included Dennis Hopper, Lance Armstrong and Russell Simmons, who engaged in some conspicuous displays of affection with girlfriend Porschla Coleman.
